Matcha & Mud , Class Information
Join us for an intimate 8-person Matcha & Pottery experience, bringing together the art of ceremonial matcha and hand-built ceramics.
We’ll begin with a one hour matcha experience led by Kayla, owner of Buena Matcha, located on El Paseo and home to the Coachella Valley’s first matcha bar. Kayla will guide you through the world of matcha ,from how it is grown and produced to its qualities and benefits ,and teach you how to properly prepare your own matcha.
Everything you need for the matcha experience will be provided, including high quality matcha and all the tools needed to prepare your drink. Kayla will also bring a selection of her homemade syrups, so you can customize and enjoy the matcha you make yourself.
Each guest will receive their own matcha whisk and matcha spoon to take home, along with the matcha drink they prepare and enjoy during the class.
The second hour moves into the pottery studio for a hand building pottery class led by Pouneh of Design by Pouneh. Each guest will receive approximately 2 lbs. of clay to create two handmade pieces. You can make two mugs, two bowls, or mix and match,for example, a mug and a small plate or tray.
No pottery experience is necessary, and all clay, materials, and tools are provided.
After the class, your pottery pieces will stay with Pouneh at the studio, where they will be glazed and fired for you. Your finished pieces will be ready in approximately three weeks. Once completed, you can pick them up from the studio or have them shipped to you for an additional shipping fee.
Throughout the experience, you’ll enjoy your freshly made matcha along with light snacks and refreshments provided in the studio.
